New cigarette pack design

Here is my first Soap Box post.

I started with a few funny designs for cigarette packs but the reality of it isn’t funny. I added the two images I made to try to make the subject a little lighter. Some times I just need to complain. Trying to come up with something ridiculously stupid for this post is hard when you are competing with the biggest comedians of all… our great politicians. How can you make something more stupid, when it is already more stupid than you can imagine?

The idea of putting graphic images on a package of cigarettes to try to get people to stop smoking, is like trying to put out a fire with old newspapers. How come Washington freaks out because a few morons drank way to much alcoholic energy drink and now it is being banned. It’s referred to as the Blackout drink! Really, a few kids got sick from drinking too much in their dorm room star trek meeting or something and it’s instantly banned.

It’s pretty obvious they aren’t really trying to ban cigarettes if over 400,000 people die a year because of tobacco and the only ideas they can come up with are putting some gross images on the cigarette packs. Think of the revenue tobacco brings in to the government through taxes. And who can forget the drug industry and doctors wages. The money made on cancer is astronomical. Why stop a good thing.

What’s your feelings on this?

Is it too soon for Michael Jackson jokes? Not only does Carrot Top work for an anti smoking ad, but great for birth control also.

Just the idea of this would make anyone lose their appetite, even for smoking.

If these are the poster kids for being cool, then you won’t have to worry about kids wanting to imitate them.
